Our Youth Ministry program seeks to form our young people in the ways of Christ. Age appropriate groups and at times whole families come together to learn the ways of Christ, to pray and to socialize. Various activities are planned for younger children as well as teens so that they might continue to learn and grow and walk the journey together.
It’s so important for young parents to have time to focus on Mass and for their young children to have a positive first experience in church. We offer a nursery at the 5:30 Sunday Mass, for ages 6 months through kindergarten.
Children’s Church is offered during the school year for ages 4 though 5th grade on the first and third Sunday’s of the month at 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm. Activities include music, crafts and story-time.
This group will be starting in January 2017 and will include an Altar Server Program and youth outreach.

The Outreach Ministry helps keep alive in our hearts and minds the social teaching of the church.
The ministry is responsible to the extent possible for the physical, social, mental, emotional needs of the parish and community. To carry out this ministry effectively, the outreach ministry is divided into four subcommittees: Social Concerns, Hospitality, Bereavement, and Justice Seekers. The current coordinators of those subcommittees are Social Concerns: Monica Diasio, Hospitality: Mary Ann Chibundi, Bereavement: Cindy Martin, and Justice Seekers: Mary Dovak.
At Rabbouni Catholic Community, we live our faith by helping others who are in need. The third weekend of each month is Altruistic Weekend. On that weekend, we ask community members to bring in donations of food and gift cards that are donated to area community ministries who support those in need. Our community tithes 10% of its weekend collections from the third weekend of the month to a not for profit organization in need. Each quarter an agency is selected by the Outreach Ministry to receive that donation and to speak to the Rabbouni Community to educate us about their organization. We also support those in need through our annual our Angel Tree Collection and a variety of projects that we sponsor in conjunction with our youth group.
The Hospitality committee is responsible for making sure that everyone who comes to us feels welcome and appreciated. Too many times our world may be a hard place for some. At Rabbouni, we want those who come to us to know that every part of their lives is fully accepted. We have greeters present at each mass and coordinate many social functions where we put in practice our understanding of being catholic—“here comes everybody”.
We offer comfort and support to those who mourn by connecting with the family and asking what we can do to help them through this difficult journey. Members of the bereavement group are available to assist in any funeral arrangements including setting up for and helping with the mass, prepare and serve a meal after the funeral service or, provide the family with food if needed at their home.
In Micah 6:8 we learn what God requires of us….”to do justice, love mercifully and walk humbly with God”
We know how to love mercifully when we feed the hungry at Exit 0 or care for the sick at Gilda’s House or take cookies to hospital workers at Christmas or write a checks to our favorite charity, for example, the Catholic Relief Fund.
WE walk humbly with God….. when we worship Him together at Mass many times a year.
But how do we do justice??????
What do we want or consider justice for God’s people? We sing in worship “send down the fire of your justice and send down the rains of your love”…. I witnessed my husband’s passion burning for the fires of justice. Do you want to explore that Rabbouni community vision of Justice, if so then I want to facilitate that vision in John’s absence!
Even if you are not sure about the difference between charity and justice? Come learn!
The strategic planning committee is made up of men and women who gather to plan the growth of this faith community. Working with the board of directors, this committee is responsible for setting the short term and long term vision of Rabbouni. In the next five years the committee is dedicated to finding ways to grow the number of parishioners to 250 and gradually raise funds for the building of our own church.
