Luke 13:13-21

A man in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Master, tell my brother to give me a share of our inheritance.’ ‘My friend,’ he replied, ‘who appointed me your judge, or the arbitrator of your claims?’ Then he said to them, ‘Watch, and be on your guard against avarice of any kind, for a man’s life is not made secure by what he owns, even when he has more than he needs.’

Vanity of vanities, everything is vanity. I remember reading this beautiful passage as a young seminarian. So much vanity takes up so much of our time. Our Lord invites us to turn the page from vanities and find what makes our lives secure. What do you think it is? I have always thought of Faith, Family, Friendship. If you ever find yourself with someone or something that wants to disturb that balance…separate from it.

Love you
